Rene Lopez Martinez passed away on October 13, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by his devoted family. He was born on September 19, 1973 in San Antonio to Irma and Ruben.
Rene will be remembered for his devotion to his daughter Arden, his generous spirit, kind heart and sense of humor. He was known for his love of sports, especially the New York Yankees, the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Cowboys. Rene will also be fondly remembered for his love of live music and enjoyed supporting local bands and artists. Rene was a San Antonio native and graduate of Alamo Heights High School.
Rene was preceded in death by his father Ruben Martinez, grandparents Maria and Guadalupe Martinez and nephew Steven Harley Sandoval.
Rene is survived by his daughter (and his pride and joy), Arden Rene Martinez, and by his devoted parents Irma and Joe Aguilar. He had a special bond with his siblings Ruben Martinez Jr., Kristin Sandoval & husband Steve and Amber Aguilar. Rene also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, including Amanda Luna, Annabelle, and Ashton Martinez, Harley, Xavier and Jayden Sandoval, Ayden Torres and Fernando Ramirez Jr. Rene also was a great uncle to Danny and Isaiah Luna. Rene was also a proud stepfather for many years to Avery Keller Meyer.
Rene was also blessed with many loving aunts and uncles, including his devoted god mother and aunt, Ellie Fernandez, with whom he shared an especially close bond.
