Jennie "Janie" Martinez Saco, Maine Formerly of Saginaw
Janie Martinez (Sanchez) passed away in the afternoon of October 11, 2025, in Saco, Maine. Daughter of the late Jose and Tomasa (Cruz) Sanchez, Janie was born January 8, 1940, in Saginaw, Michigan. Janie lived most of her life in Michigan as a youngster and raised her children into adulthood. She also spent many years living in Maine with her daughter Dora. She was a selfless woman, always putting others before herself and never wanting anyone to make a fuss over her. To say she was a hard worker is putting it mildly-she worked well into her 80's believing that you just had to keep moving. She can be remembered for the sound of her laugh and the love she showed. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Janie is survived by her husband Mario H. Martinez and their 7 children, Lidia (David) Landis, Yolanda Martinez, Mario (Stephanie) Martinez, Alicia Dilts, Jesus Martinez, Luz Elena (Joshua Lawton) Martinez-Lawton, Ivan Miranda (Deyvi Gomez Mondrago) Martinez; many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; a sister, Connie Delgado and a brother, Frank Sanchez. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Aurora "Dora" Cantara; a granddaughter, Erica Milton; and her siblings, Ester, Isabel, Antonio, Thomas and Peter.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2025, at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2445 N. Charles, Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Steven Gavit will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Time of Sharing will take place at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John Paul II Parish.
