Renee L. Hetelle, a beloved mother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 24th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was born on December 11th, 1960, to James P. and Rhoda J. Young. She was the heart of her home and the light in every room she entered.
Renee adored the magic of Christmas, a season she brought to life with joy, tradition, and a sparkle that made everyone feel like a kid again. Her proudest role in life was being "Nana" to her cherished grandchildren-Kayden, Kole, and Keenan-each of whom she loved unconditionally and endlessly.
Above all else, Renee's heart belonged to her one and only son, Michael Ryan. He was her pride, her strength, and the greatest joy of her life.
She found happiness in life's simple pleasures-lunch dates and laughter with her friends, quiet time spent coloring, and sweet snuggles with her beloved dog, Bella. As a sister and aunt, she was fiercely loyal, endlessly caring, and always present. Her family meant everything to her, and she made sure they felt it every single day.
Renee's spirit was one of kindness, humor, and compassion. She made those around her feel seen, valued, and deeply loved. Though her absence is profoundly felt, the love she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy will forever be written in memories, traditions, and the beautiful lives she helped shape.
Renee is survives by her son, Michael Hetelle and his wife Hilary Bunting. Her grandchildren Kayden, Kole and Keenan. One sister, Lauri (Brian) Halm; one brother, James P. (Nickie) Young Jr. Her nieces and nephews, Jennifer Schutte, Ashley Young, Christopher Halm and Trenton Young. Her aunts and uncle, Madonna Cox, Karen Young, Lily Simpson, and Robert Simpson. She is also survived by countless friends including her special friend Connie, many cousins, and her beloved dog Bella.
Renee is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Lee Hetelle, her parents James and Rhoda Young, and grandparents, John and Harriett Cunningham and Ralph and Cleo Kruse.
Renee will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood at a later date. Aqua Cremation rites have been accorded.
Rest easy, Nana. We will love you forever.
