Renee Ellen Prosperi died peacefully at her home in Inverness from cancer on December 8, 2025, after a full and richly lived life. Born in Chicago in 1955, Renee graduated from Carl Schurz High School in 1973 and went on to study nursing before charting her own creative path.
In 1976, she married Dennis Prosperi and they shared many years together before divorcing in 2001. Renee continued her education at Harper College taking fine art classes and ultimately distinguished herself as a self-made interior designer and an aesthetician. Her eye for originality led her to become the owner of Modernism Gallery in Chicago, where her passion for mid-century furniture, art, and antiques flourished. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Renee delighted in life’s simple pleasures like cooking, listening to music, watching movies, and, most of all, sharing laughter with her family. Her home was a place of warmth, creativity, and thoughtful expression.
Renee’s greatest joy was being a mother to her daughter, Juliana Prosperi, and her two sons, Ross Prosperi and Frank Prosperi. She cherished her role as a grandmother and treasured spending time with her two granddaughters, Sydney Prior and Lucia Prior, whom she lovingly encouraged to be confident, kind, and strong.
Renee is survived by her former husband; her daughter and son-in-law Kevin Prior; her two sons; her granddaughters; and her two brothers, Glenn Lorentz and Scott Lorentz.
