Cremated and Forever With his Loving Wife
Scott Milholland (or Renny Milholland if you liked messing with him), drew his last breaths on August 13th, 2024 in the arms of his wife, Lisa Milholland and surrounded by family at Northside Hospital in Canton. Scott was born to Lloyd and Carol Milholland on July 18th, 1969 who have been by his side since the very first moments of his life and have diligently and lovingly stayed with him to the very last. Born and raised in Marietta, GA he and his older brother Denny lived in 6 different houses in the span of 8 years but their parents refused to take them out of their school district and away from their friends. Even when they had an incredibly long move right across the street and had their school district changed, Carol still took them to the same school even though the school bus wouldn't. Lloyd employed his boys in the family business as soon as they were old enough to hold a shovel and would drop them off on the jobsite so they could start cleaning manholes for him. Lloyd with pride for his boys would give Scott his first and last job through the family business. Scott's surviving older brother Denny born 6 years before him has always been a dedicated older brother who always did his damndest to look after him (and sometimes even take the fall for him, if you know the stories you know what I'm talking about) even if sometimes his only reward was a fat albert bat to the back of the head. Brotherly love is just like that sometimes, they would do anything for each one moment and turn around and start messing with each other the next. There is no better example of brotherly love than Denny and Scott. Scott left behind a lifetime of unforgettable memories of being a pain in the ass to his brother and his wife Christine and his two nephews Jacob and Zach.
Scott would take to the family business as he would seek a business degree in management to better educate himself on how to run things and be able to take over more responsibility for the family. While attending Georgia Tech he also got a 2nd degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He was a real smart guy and if I can steal a recent quote (because I couldn't have said it better myself) from one of his old buddies Juan Casalduc who said, "One of the greatest all around smart ass guys I have ever met". Scott had quite a few hobbies over the years but the ones that stuck were concerts and hunting. He loved listening to Chris Stapleton and Travis Tritt with his wife, had a thing for 80s hair band rock, and heavy metal like Volbeat that some of his kids still listen to today. His love and respect for hunting started when he was 12 years old at Big Liza creek when his dad took him for the very first time. And throughout all his hobbies and interests over the years was always his oldest friend Ronnie Lindsey, forever by his side and always getting each other into and out of trouble.
Scott first met Lisa in 1986 in their senior year at Sprayberry High School. High school sweethearts if you will. They later reconnected 30 years later through a powerful destiny shaping magic called Facebook. Scott and Lisa would spend their time with family, traveling (they loved the Bahamas and casino trips), and hosting the infamous Friday Night Game Nights at their home. Scott will continue to be taken into the future by his kids: Peyton, Andrew, Avery, Eren, and Collin. We move through this life with the spirit and teachings he has given us, he has always taken care of us, and we have no plans of letting him stop now. Scott is blessed with two stupidly cute granddaughters: Parish and Paisley and is currently awaiting the arrival of his newest granddaughter Wrenny Rae who is named in honor of him.
Some may say that Scott passed away too young or too quickly or "it wasn't his time", but if you knew my dad like I did, he's just making sure that the place is ready for all of us when we see him next, he's just got to make sure it's done right. I am eternally grateful that he isn't going to be waiting for us alone, ahead of him are Aunt Brenda, Dallis and Hazel Sisson, Pearl Milholland, and more family than we could ever keep track of. I'll be sure to have a thank you ready for each and every one of them.
Now, while I'm sure Scott would have preferred for us to just do whatever is easiest with him and move on, unfortunately for him we love him too much for that and plan on having a celebration of his life (Date and Time to be announced, the family will put out a Facebook post as soon as we can find an appropriate venue, likely will be posted in multiple places). The celebration, much like how Scott liked to live his life, will be laid back and surrounded by good people he loves, so dress comfortably. No flowers or gifts please, Scott nor his family wants any of that crap. He would have never admitted to it but all Scott would ever want is for you to grab a beer with old friends and family and reminisce about the good times you had with him.
