Obituary
Reno Smith, Jr., age 73, of Westville, Florida, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023, at his home. He was born January 30, 1950, to Reno Smith, Sr., and Lenora Ellen McKinnon Smith in Panama City, Florida. After graduating from high school, Reno proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he saw much of the countryside in Germany. A carpenter by trade, he was a gifted woodworker and could build anything. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Reno never met a stranger. Every person in the world, to him, was just a friend he hadn't met yet.
Reno is preceded in death by his mother, Lenora Ellen McKinnon Campbell; father, Reno Smith, Sr.; stepfather, Leonard Campbell; and cousin/fishing partner, Jeff Commander.
He is survived by his daughter, Brandi Sorrells (Mark); one granddaughter, McKennah Blackmon; one brother, Victor Smith (Debra); two nephews, Daniel Smith and Tyler Smith; one niece, Michele Melvin; great-nephews, Anthony Melvin, Drake Falgoust and Saul Smith; close friend, Randy Sellers (Julie); many close friends from the Ponce de Leon class of 1968; and countless other family, friends and loved ones.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at West Pittman Baptist Church, with Pastor Daniel Smith officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to West Pittman Baptist Church in his name.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home of DeFuniak Springs.
