Retta Murphy Obituary
Memorial service for Retta Murphy, age 70, of Yantis, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with CJ Duffey officiating. Mrs. Murphy passed away at her home in Yantis on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 after a prolonged bout with cancer.
Retta Ann Murphy was born on September 23, 1953 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Billy Jack and Lauretta (Ashby) Martin. She married Dwayne Murphy in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 28, 2000. Retta had a special love for gardening and spending time with family and friends. She looked forward to her yearly trips with her girlfriends whom she met in 4th grade. They visited many destinations and enjoyed many laughs along the way. It was an inseparable bond. Retta was loved and will be missed by all who had the joy of knowing her.
Retta is survived by her husband, Dwayne Murphy; daughters, Micah Fouse and husband Josh, Karla Payne and husband Matt; six grandchildren, Cody Dodd, Caden Dodd, Daci Darling, Kolbie Fouse, Lane Fouse, Anndi Jones; and aunt, Brenda Ashby.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy Jack and Lauretta Ashby; and daughter, Melissa McVay.
