Rev. Steven "Steve" Shepard Luke, born on October 22, 1961, in Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully at his residence in Tifton, Georgia, on February 28, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community member, he lived a life dedicated not only to his family but also to his passions and faith.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 8, 2025 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Tommy Gray officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 335 Coy Hancock Road, Lenox, Ga. 31637. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Shaun Walls, Jordan Luke, Josh Turner, Trey Barfield, Will Luke, Brantley Smith, and T. J. Gray will serve as pallbearers.
He was a proud graduate of Tift County High School, class of 1979. He was self-employed in the construction industry, running his own business, Steve Luke Builders. His hard work and dedication were a testament to his character, and he took immense pride in providing for his family.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Rev. Luke was deeply committed to his family and community. He relished the opportunity to coach his grandsons' football teams, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship while creating lasting memories with Jordan and Trey. Outside of his coaching, he enjoyed various outdoor activities including golfing, hunting, fishing, shooting pool, and playing horseshoes—hobbies that reflected his love for both nature and friendly competition.
He found great fulfillment in his spiritual journey. Rev. Luke was called to preach in 2000 and served as a former minister of Saving Grace Ministries. His faith was an essential part of his life, and he expressed his deep love for the Lord throughout his spiritual endeavors.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Jernigan Luke; his children, Jennifer and Josh Turner of TyTy, Jessica and Shaun Walls of Tifton, and Jordan and Brenna Luke of Hahira; his cherished grandchildren, Jimmy Trey Barfield, Elizabeth Paige Barfield, Charlee Anne Walls, Tyler Shaun Walls, Brantley Smith, Charlotte Luke, Noah Luke, Emma Turner, and Dixie Turner; as well as his sisters and brothers-in-law, Vicki and Clinton DeWitt of Tifton and Kelly and Tommy Gray of Ocala, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his father, William "Bill" S. Luke, and his mother, Larry Nadine Kahler Johnson.
His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared with those around him. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
