Rex Patrick Mowery, 63, of Evansville, Indiana, went to his heavenly home on April 7, 2025.
Rex was born on June 11, 1961 in Vincennes, Indiana to the late Norman Rex and Helen Mae (Cardinal) Mowery. He grew up on a small farm near Bruceville, IN. Rex graduated from North Knox High School in 1979 and went on to receive an associates degree from Vincennes University in Electrical Technology.
He started his career at Bell Labs in Indianapolis, then worked at Whirlpool for 27 years and at Hoosier Energy for an additional 10 years. The best part of his jobs was the great friendships he made with co-workers. Bill & Randy at Whirlpool felt like Rex's brothers. At Hoosier Energy, Rex had many great co-workers. Thanks to Colby, Jeff, Mark, Heath, Craig, Clint, & Donnie for being the best friends ever.
Rex loved all sports. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Purdue Boilermakers and watching local high school basketball. He also loved contemporary Christian music. Casting Crowns and MercyMe were among his favorites. He also enjoyed going to Calvary Baptist Church in Wheatland to experience their wonderful gospel music. Rex enjoyed watching some of the old television shows from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Among his favorites were The Andy Griffith Show, The Rifleman, Father Knows Best, The Waltons, and Bonanza.
Rex endured some very difficult times in his life. His twin brother died the same day he was born. Rex's father died when Rex was 30. In 2012, his daughter was diagnosed with cancer and his son died suddenly at the age of 29. His mother Helen Mae died in 2019. In 2022, his daughter passed away at the age of 38. Despite the sadness and grief, Rex's faith in his Savior the Lord Jesus Christ kept him strong. Rex was always thankful to God for so much in his life, especially for having the best parents and two wonderful children. After being diagnosed with ALS, Rex received a lot of love and encouragement from many special people, for which he was very grateful. And the greatest care, compassion, and love came from his wife, Maria. She was the greatest gift in Rex's life.
Rex is survived by his loving wife, Maria Elaine Venturini; sisters, Karla Wade (Mark) and Kim Byrne (Rick); granddaughters, Makaelyn and Brooklyn Appel and their father, Jeff Appel; and his nephews, Matthew Byrne (Julie) and Michael Byrne, and Ryan and Nathan Wade.
Rex was preceded in death by his son, Adrien Joseph Mowery in 2012; daughter, Sarah Lynn Appel in 2022; by his parents; brother, Charles Joseph Mowery.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 1:00 pm (Eastern Time) on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2004 N. 2nd St., Vincennes, IN 47591 with Father Caleb Scherzenger celebrating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Vincennes, IN.
Friends may visit from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm (Central Time) on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 12:00 Noon (Eastern Time) until Mass time at the church in Vincennes on Friday.
Donations can be made to the ALS Association, 1300 Wilson Blvd., Suite 600 Arlington, VA, 22209 or to Calvary Baptist Church, 310 Hall Rd., Wheatland, Indiana.

I only met Rex once, but I do know that he loved Maria, and she loved him very much! When I would occasionally run into her, she would not talk long because she wanted to get back to Rex to make sure he was okay and to be with him, to take good care of him. Maria, you are the best and one of the sweetest gals of many good women I know! Love you Maria, Tami

My condolences to the family. I worked with Rex for many years at Whirlpool and am shocked to hear of his passing. I will always remember the basketball games after work and the many times we simply stopped and talked with each other. God bless you Rex. Your friend, Steve Church
