Rex David Pickering, 81, of Atchison, KS died on Sunday, April 27th, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Cormode officiating. The body will be cremated following the service and the burial of his cremated remains will be at a later date in the Round Mound Cemetery, Cummings, KS. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 2nd,at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Meals on Wheels or the Cummings Christian Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com. Rex was born on December 4, 1943, in Atchison, KS the son of Delmer U. and Coral Faye (Parman) Pickering. He graduated from Atchison High School in 1961. Rex served in the United States Army. He worked for Atchison Leather Products, then Blair Feed and Page Airways in the underground cave before working as a glass glazer at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. Rex was a member of the Cummings Christian Church, as a youth he was in boy scouts, and 4-H. He enjoyed horseback riding, hunting pheasants and quail, leatherwork, riding motorcycles and John Deere tractors, and going for walk abouts in junk yards looking at old cars. He was married to Victoria Louise Nyhart on May 3rd, 1964, at the Cummings Christian Church. Vicki survives at home. Additional survivors include son Shaun (Lane) Pickering, Pataskala, OH, and daughter Jeni (Gus) Luna, Florence, AZ, grandchildren Daniella and Dominic Luna, and Eleanor, David, and Samuel Pickering, and sister Phyllis Worley, Olathe, KS. His parents, and brother-in-law George Worley preceded him in death.
