Rex Riddle Obituary
Born February 1, 1935, in Iberia, OH, he was a son of the late Ralph Allen Riddle and the late Ellen Lucretia Lyon Riddle. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and attended Sumter First Church of God and Bethel Baptist Church. He retired from Cooper Industrial in 1991 and Metal Finishing Services in 1998.
Survivors include three children, Sherrill Johnson of Palm Bay, FL, Julie Hackett of Sumter, and Thomas M. Riddle (Trina) of Sumter; step-children, Lauri Dowell (Kent) of Mooresville, NC, Jeannie Nelson (Tom), Bobby Rodgers (Valerie), and Pam Wilfong (Mike) all of Sumter; grandchildren, Ethan Johnson (Amanda) of Seattle, WA, Aaron Johnson (Danielle) of Gainesville, FL, Madison Johnson Warren of Palm Bay, FL, Timothy Rex Riddle (Emilie) of San Antonio, TX, Sean Hackett (Regan Yates) of Sumter, Peter Hackett (Ariel) of Columbia, Sarah Elizabeth Riddle of Marietta, GA, Leigh Ellen Conn (Anthony) of Patuxent River, MD, Casey Giltinan (Matt) of Jamestown, NY, Cameron King of Mooresville, NC, and Jake Wilfong, James Wilfong, Christina Lang (Leon), Sally Viera, and Robert Rodgers all of Sumter; and great-grandchildren, Gryphon Rex Riddle of San Antonio, TX, Marion and Laura Johnson of Seattle, WA, and Eli, Natalie, and Taylor Lang, Noah and Ellie Viera, Adley Wilfong, Madison Healan, and Jaxton Wilfong all of Sumter.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Al Riddle, and two children, Jeffrey Rex Riddle and Ann Marie Hunter.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 P.M. Thursday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will follow at 6 P.M. Thursday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Pastor Laura Whitt officiating. A private burial will be held in the Bethel Methodist Church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 211 Alice Dr., Sumter, SC 29150.
Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
