Rex Allen Yancer
Saginaw, Michigan
Rex passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 1, 2024, at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens, MI. Age 47 years. Rex leaves a legacy of unwavering love for his children, whom he loved fiercely and deeply, finding immense joy and fulfillment in raising them and instilling in them the values of kindness, integrity and perseverance. His spirit will live forever in the hearts of his children and in the hearts of family members and friends. In recent years Rex battled through physical hardships but persevered, always accepting the next challenge with the same vigor he had as a younger man. Rex was employed as a glass glazier for many years, most recently for Trenko Glass. He also did handyman work in his spare time for anyone who needed help with a construction project or repair. Rex's hobbies included deer hunting and the camaraderie, fun times and enthusiasm he shared at deer camp each fall with family and friends. He was an avid and accomplished softball player for many years – hitting home runs was his forte. He also enjoyed fishing and golfing, and relished his time at get-togethers with family and friends.
Rex was born on February 14, 1977, in Saginaw, Michigan to Tracie Borle and Lonnie Yancer. He is survived by his children, Emma, Eric and Jacob Yancer; mother and stepfather, Tracie and Jerry Kent; father and stepmother, Lonnie and Susan Yancer; favorite uncle, friend and softball partner, Paul Borle and his wife, Maria; sisters and brothers, Theresa Kent (Ray Condon), Lonnie Yancer Jr. (Anna); Terry Yancer, and Jessica Yancer; grandmother, Shirley Yancer; aunts and uncles, Wilbur and Darla Yancer, Dean and Laura Yancer, Margaret Chinery, Paul and Vickie Muehlenbeck, John and Mary Sullivan, Steve and Sheila Elvin; many nieces and nephews, including, Cole and Shaemus Condon; special friends Shannon Garno, Linda and Charlie Miller, Mari Wilcox and her daughter, Jaydin, Brian Wideman and Adam Sadehvandi, and many other special friends, too numerous to mention here. Also left to cherish his memory are numerous cousins. Rex was predeceased by his grandparents, Rex and Lorraine Borle, Wilbur Yancer, and Patricia (Kent) Nellett; also, Aunts Kathie Borle and Lori Elvin; Toby Garno.
In accordance with family wishes, cremation has taken place.
A memorial prayer service for Rex will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Wakeman Funeral Home, 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, MI. Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. Rex will be laid to rest with his grandparents, Rex and Lorraine and Aunt Kathie in Owen Cemetery, Thomas Township, with a private family committal.
