Reynold Lee Blackburn, 54, aka Biggun", "Viking King", "Hero", resided in Flora Vista, New Mexico, born July 18, 1970 in Albuquerque, N.M. and passed peacefully on Valentine's Day, 2025. He is the only son of Roxanne Trout Heath.
He was raised in Thoreau, N.M. graduated Thoreau High School, entered the U.S. Navy, attended San Juan College and was a former sheet metal worker. His life can only be described as "on his own terms" Reynold was a man's man and always tried to understand the velvet mystery of women, with much success. He carried himself proudly and tall at 6'7". He was 5 pounds, 2 ounces and birth and grew to 378 pounds.
Reynold is survived by his sister, Della Densmore, 4 step-brothers and 2 step-sisters, his nephew, Joseph Hernandez and niece, Marriah Hernandez, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was best known for "studying" people, growing ornamental corn, survival skills and sharing stories with the children, He was rarely without his faithful companion, Sing He was a wonderful listener, had an extensive imagination, was possessive, protective and resourceful. His tenacity of purpose, sensitivity care and caution was evident. He loved rock hunting,
collectibles, winning at Dominoes and was a "double ringer" with horseshoes. He also partook in Snipe hunting.
His joy in life was the friends he knew, the fish he caught and the many hours with his grandfather Russell Trout, fishing on Nutria Lake and Bluewater Lake, and his grandfather, "Blackie," Calon Earl Blackburn in Heber Springs, Arkansas. His grandmothers, Roberta Trout, Evelyn and Alberta Blackburn adored, spoiled and loved him beyond measure, predeceasing him.
Reynold was gifted with the ability to make others laugh. His sense of humor and laughter will be remembered. He was incredibly intelligent, trusted in yesterday. He desired the security of his family and friends and would do anything to make "things" happen for them. Reynold will be missed as he impacted so many lives.
His resting place is Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque. Reynold had faith there was magnificence beyond the Pearly Gates.
The family is requesting memorial donations to the St. Bonaventure Indian Mission in Thoreau, N.M. There are so services at this time A horseshoe tournament and barbecue will be likely held on Memorial Day in Flora Vista on the Animas river.

When I was first introduced to Reynold, the person told me his full name, but I heard Reynold "Blackbird".

As we got to know each other better, I learned his last name was Blackburn, but I chose to call him black bird.

Reynold stuck up for me on many occasions in school and he and I became good friends.

Black bird I will miss you...
