Rhoda Marie Arndt

Age 94, of South St. Paul. Passed away on May 27, 2025.
Rhoda Marie Arndt was born on June 9th, 1930 in St Paul, Minnesota to William and Clara (Aschbach) Arndt. The family soon moved to Jamestown, North Dakota where Rhoda lived until she went to boarding school at Northwestern Lutheran Academy, graduating in 1947. She received her teaching degree from Martin Luther College in 1951.
Rhoda dedicated her life to her many students over the following 47 years – in Mobridge, South Dakota, Lake Mills, Wisconsin and South Saint Paul. In South Saint Paul, she worked at St Croix Lutheran Academy where she taught a myriad of subjects including Art, Math, English and Grammar. Throughout those years, she also managed the yearbook, coached downhill skiing, supervised detention, directed school plays and managed class scheduling. Her focused instruction and steadfast character touched so many lives.
She was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church in South Saint Paul where she faithfully enjoyed editing the video of the services and playing the organ and piano.
Some of her other joys were growing perennials and hostas in her backyard terrace, learning computer skills and Spanish, reading the Bible, and volunteering at New Day Thrift Store.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Paul Arndt, and sister, Ruth (Arndt) Misgen. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and their spouses and children. She will be greatly missed!
Funeral Service 11 AM Tuesday, June 3rd at Grace Lutheran Church, 155 So. 8th Ave., South St. Paul. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service at church.
Interment Glenham Cemetery, Glenham, SD.
Memorials can be made to the Great Plains Lutheran High School in Watertown, South Dakota or to Grace Lutheran Church in South Saint Paul.
