Rhoda Diane (Shapiro) Zagorsky

(February 28, 1940 – January 7, 2026/ )

Rhoda Diane (Shapiro) Zagorsky, beloved eldest child of Pearl and Jack Shapiro, was raised in Everett, Massachusetts. She earned an associate degree from Boston University.

At the age of 16, Rhoda met the love of her life, Norman Zagorsky. Together, they were privileged to share 62 loving years of marriage. They made their home in Medford and Winthrop, Massachusetts, and Tamarac, Florida, and spent the past five years at Brooksby Village in Peabody, Massachusetts.

Rhoda was the treasured big sister of Paula Gopin and Jerry Shapiro, and the devoted mother of Jay and Kim, Debra and Frank, and Ellen and Shalom Shachne. She was the adored grandmother of Josh and Christine, Benjamin and Natalie, Rebecca and Christian, Shir, Chana, Penina and Menashe, and Ilana, and the doting great-grandmother ("GG") of Gideon, Leah, Maya and Isaac. Privileged to have found love twice in her life, Rhoda was the beloved companion of Stuart Itzkovitz.

A woman ahead of her time, Rhoda embraced healthy living and alternative healing long before it became mainstream. Beginning in the 1970s, she devoted herself to nutrition, meditation, and complementary medicine. She became a foot reflexologist and a popular speaker on the local adult-education circuit, taking great joy in sharing her knowledge of holistic health, meditation, and the power of forgiveness.

Funeral services will be held at Goldman Fisher Funeral Chapel, 174 Ferry Street, Malden, Massachusetts, on Friday, January 9th at 9 am.

Shiva will be observed Saturday evening at 6pm at her late residence, Orchard View Court 318 Brooksby Village, Peabody: with Jay Zagorsky, Debra Agliano, Ellen Goldberg, also Saturday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM at the home of Paula Gopin with Jerry Shapiro at 6 Blake Rd, Brookline. I did not know Rhoda well but when I spent time at her home a few times or was at a function together she and Norman Her husband was such classy down-to-earth people. I found Rhoda to be a very gentle soul who was very concerned that I was living a healthy life style food and natural healing I was very touched by that. One time in Winthrop There was some anti Catholic chatter on TV and a comment was made. Right away she changed the channel and subject because she thought some of us would be offended. That always stuck with me. I always lean on my life experiences that being good kind and respectful trancends backgrounds and cultures. Shes at peace with her husband may God be with them forever.

La paz de Dios sobreabunde en sus corazones y los bellos recuerdos de ella siempre estén impregnados en sus memorias. Que en paz descanse. Un abrazo grande y solidario.
