Rhonda K. Armstrong, 81, of Bourbon, Missouri passed away peacefully at her home, on Monday, June 23, 2025.
Rhonda Kay Armstrong was born on December 10, 1943, in Sullivan, Missouri to the late Oliver "Lee" and Helen (Isgriggs) Pennock. Rhonda grew up and attended school in Sullivan where she would soon meet her husband, Ernest Harman. They were soon united in marriage on December 15, 1961. Their union was blessed with two loving daughters, Lisa and Dana. They continued raising their family in Bourbon, where Rhonda remained a stay at home mother while raising the girls.
As a family, they shared a love for the outdoors, often spending time floating on the Courtois and Brazil Creeks and camping. Though Rhonda and Ernest sadly later divorced, the memories they created as a family remained a cherished part of her life.
Once her daughters were grown, she began working at the local Herbal Pantry in Bourbon before embarking on a management career with various Dollar General Stores, spanning from Rolla to Sullivan and the towns in between.
Rhonda's heart found love again when she married Leroy Armstrong on August 24, 1984, in Sullivan, Missouri. Together, they blended their families and shared a passion for travel, with memorable trips to Colorado and Las Vegas. Rhonda's faith was an important aspect of her life, and she was an active member of the Kingdom Hall in Sullivan, where she also took the step of baptism.
Rhonda possessed a talent for sewing. Music brought her joy, and she cherished the moments spent with her adored grandchildren. Rhonda lived a private and quiet life, yet her presence was anything but silent. She was known for her bubbly personality and the smile that seemed to light up any room she entered.
She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Lisa Nigh and husband Kent of Boonville, Missouri and Dana Johnson and husband Chuck of Rolla, Missouri; six grandchildren: Levi Nigh and significant other Jordan, Kendra Bittle and husband Billy, Amanda Cullin and husband Chad, Bryan Nigh and wife Lena, Hashan Stanley and wife Tara and Antoine Johnson and wife Allison; nine great – grandchildren; five step-children; a brother, Mike Pennock and wife Pat of Bourbon, Missouri; two sisters, Georgia Eaton and husband Les of Bourbon, Missouri and Brenda Dotson of Sullivan, Missouri; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Armstrong; the father of her children, Ernest Harman; two brothers, Mark and Kenneth Pennock; and a sister, Vera West.
Graveside Services will be 12:30 PM, Friday, June 27, 2025 at Anaconda Cemetery in Stanton, Missouri.
Visitation will be 10 – 12 PM, Friday, June 27, 2025 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.
