Rhonda Parr Obituary

Visit the Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home Inc website to view the full obituary.

Rhonda Parr passed away on December 8, 2025, at the age of 58. She was born on November 6, 1967, to the late Charles Clifton Parr and Carolyn Moore, who surely welcomed her home with open arms.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Kevin Parr. Rhonda adored her big brother, Kevin—he wasn’t just her sibling, he was her very best friend. Their bond was unwavering, built on trust, laughter, and a lifetime of looking out for one another. In his final years, Rhonda lovingly stepped into the role of one of his primary caregivers, tending to him with the same compassion and loyalty she showed everyone she loved. Caring for Kevin was an honor to her, and she remained steadfast by his side until his passing.

Rhonda leaves behind those who were the joy of her heart: her nephew, Eric (Samantha) Parr, her great-niece, Hazel Jane Parr, and her sister-in-law, Connie Parr (Bish) Rockwell; two beloved aunts, Jeanne Clark and Joyce Swindle and a host of cousins.

A woman of deep conviction and steady faith, Rhonda lived her life anchored in prayer, compassion, and service. She loved her family with a fierceness that never wavered, and she poured the same devotion into her church family at Barrett Road United Methodist Church, where she served in whatever capacity was needed—Sunday School teacher, prayer warrior, and dependable supporter of its leadership. If something needed doing, Rhonda rolled up her sleeves and did it.

Rhonda’s calling as a nurse was more than a profession; it was her ministry. She cared for countless people with skill, tenderness, and grit. Her career spanned home health, the ER and OB units at Vaughn Regional, and many cherished years as a travel nurse in California. She was widely respected by her colleagues and patients alike, always bringing her best—her knowledge, her compassion, and her sense of duty. Nursing also gave her the great gift of caring for her mother in her final years, a role she embraced with love.

Her nephew and great-niece were the absolute light of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to brag on them, support them, or simply love them well.

Rhonda was also a force in the kitchen—the holidays were her Olympics, and she competed with unmatched enthusiasm. Her legendary “rho-sagna,” decadent macaroni and cheese, chocolate cheesecake, and green bean casserole were staples of every family gathering. She did not believe in “small batches”—if she cooked, it fed an army. And everyone was happy to enlist.

She adored her dogs, who brought her joy and constant companionship—most recently “J.J.,” her beloved Scottish Terrier, and “Rudy,” her loyal Schnauzer.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the nurses who cared for Rhonda and honored her as one of their own. Their kindness meant more than words can express.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Pineview Memory Gardens in Valley Grande with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directing. There will be no visitation.
