Rhonda Gaye Gunter Scelsi, aged 60, a longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama, was born on December 14, 1964, and died peacefully at her home on Monday, October 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, to parents William "Bill" and Nancy Gunter. Rhonda graduated from Greystone High School before earning a degree in piano performance from Mobile College, now the University of Mobile.
Rhonda was a devout Christian and belonged to several local church communities over her lifetime, including most recently Luke 4:18 Fellowship. She was an accomplished pianist and singer, and was a member of the Women of Faith worship team.
Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Nancy Gunter, infant brother Alvin Jerome Gunter, as well as other family members. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Charles "Charlie" Scelsi; sons: Andrew (Sarah) and Matthew (Camille) Scelsi; brother, Todd (Kim) Gunter, and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Her family will hold a memorial service for friends and family on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Luke 4:18 Fellowship, 2664 Sollie Road, Mobile, Alabama 36695. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., and the memorial service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
