It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ricardo Lewis Clay, 61 of Columbus, OH. While Ricardo gave a good strong fight, he lost his battle with cancer on October 6, 2025.
Affectionately known as “Rico”, he was born to the late Lena Clay on July 31, 1964 in Lexington, KY where he lived until the family relocated to Columbus, OH in the mid seventies. He attended Linden McKinley high school and went on to attend culinary school.
You could always find a smile on his face when he was around with a few jokes here and there. But his most prized attribute was cooking. He was avid in the kitchen and well known for his skills. Rico learned how to whip up a good meal from days of spending time with his mother during his childhood. Rico had a love for Cadillacs, a huge sense of humor and stories for days. Rico was so loved. His jokes and laughter will truly be missed.
He was preceded in death by his mother Lena Clay, daughters Daivena Clay and Sonato Cox, son Brandon Polk, grandson Timothy Coleman Jr and Grandparents Harry T. And Susie “Muh” Clay.
Rico leaves to cherish his memories with his daughter Jazmine Clay and son Audric Clay, Four brothers; Emmanuel “Ryce”, Ondra L., Austin W. and Victor L. (India) Clay. Six sisters; Tonya Johnson, Alexis “Fern” Clay, Annette K. Clay-Pinson, Angel M. Clay-Brown, Tamatha S. (Steven) Wilson and Timia L. Clay. 26 Grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank close friend Mike Dailey for all of his help during Rico’s transition.
