Ricardo (Rick) Luis Ramirez , 40 yrs old, was born on June 4, 1974, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Rick passed away on March 31, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Rick graduated from East Kentwood High School , Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1992. He then attended New Mexico State University before moving to Arizona. Rick and his family moved to Glendale Arizona in May of 1997. He attended the Art Institute of Phoenix and graduated in 1999 with his photojournalist degree. Rick went to work for ABC 15 as their cameraman and editor for the Smart Shopper. Rick was a member of the National Hispanic Journalist Association and mentored dozens of young Latino photo journalists. Rick also worked at the family's Allstate Insurance Agency and he would DJ for Boom Events, in which he had a broad following. Rick is survived by his parents, Joe L. and Carmen L. Ramirez and three brothers, Marcos L. Ramirez, Joe L. Ramirez, Jr, and Jonathan L. Ramirez , all from Anthem, Arizona. He is also survived by his grandparents, Agustin and Raquel Ramirez of Las Cruces, New Mexico . Our family will never be the same without our Rick for we will miss him so much. The memories of our Rick will remain in our hearts forever. May he rest in peace. A visitation will be held Thursday, April 9, 2015, 5:00 pm at Heritage Arrowhead funeral Center, 7545 W. Rose Garden Lane in Glendale, Arizona 85308. A funeral service will take place, Friday, April 10, 2015, 9:00 am at Community Church of Joy, 21000 N. 75th Ave. Glendale, Arizona 85308. Internment will immediately follow located at Arrowhead Memorial Gardens.

Ricky, although I've only known you for a short time I knew instantly that you were a kind good hearted person. You seemed always to be full of life, even knowing that you had a battle ahead of you. You kept a positive mind or at least you showed it. I'll always remember the late night after parties at Melissa were you all spun till the early A.M.... Boy those were so long nights, but super fun. It's sad to know that you are no longer here with us, but comforting to know that you are now free of pain. May you rest in paradise my friend.
