Richard Thomas Albregts passed away due to complications from skin cancer on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by his loving family. Known to family and friends by his nickname, Dick, he was born on July 13, 1935, in Fowler, Indiana to Joseph B. and Louise (née Snouwaert) Albregts. He was the eighth child in a family of eleven children. He spent his childhood and early adult life on farms in Benton and Tippecanoe counties, Indiana. He was a graduate of Jackson Township High School and Purdue University. On July 28, 1956, he was united in marriage to Cecelia C. O'Brien at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette, Indiana. Together, they raised four sons.
Dick retired from SC Johnson and Sons Inc. in 1998 as Director of Logistics after more than 37 years of service. He served in the Indiana National Guard from 1953 until 1959. He was past President of the St. Catherine's High School Athletic Association and a former member of Meadowbrook Country Club in Racine, Wisconsin. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Racine, Wisconsin and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he served as an usher for many years. In his younger years he enjoyed coaching his sons' athletic teams and running, completing many road races, including two marathons.
After retirement, Dick and Cecelia became "snow birds" spending winters in Sun City Summerlin in Las, Vegas, Nevada and summers in Wisconsin, first on Delavan Lake and then later in Racine. Over the years they enjoyed trips to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the Caribbean and throughout most of the United States. Dick also enjoyed being ski boat captain for outings on Delavan Lake, as well as golf, biking, working out and solving crossword and sudoku puzzles. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and was most proud of the personal and professional accomplishments of his sons and grandchildren.
Dick is survived by Cecelia, his wife of 69 years, sons Jeffery R. (wife Mary Endres) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Patrick D. (wife Denise Majerko) of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Daniel J. (wife Stacey Nitz) of Las Vegas, Nevada and Douglas B. (wife Lisa Martiny) of Mountain Lakes, New Jersey. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Courtney Derr (husband Hugh Jacob), Benjamin Albregts (wife Rebecca), Krista Bruckmann (husband Harold), Ryan Albregts (wife Ella), Tyler Albregts (wife Hannah), Colleen Edman (husband Miles), Zachary Albregts, Samuel Albregts, Maddison Albregts, Jackson Albregts, Riley Albregts and Mae Albregts and nine great grandchildren, Reagan Albregts, Sophia Albregts, Beowulf Derr, Adelyn Albregts, Mila Albregts, Lillian Derr, Csilla Albregts, Teagan Albregts and Aidan Albregts. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his brother William Albregts.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am unitil the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am on Monday, November 24, 2025, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette, Fr. Jeff Martin officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Lafayette.
