Dion "UnKle D" Jones, a radiant soul who graced us all with his warmth and laughter, passed away unexpectedly on October 25, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on August 12, 1968, in Valparaiso, Indiana, Dion’s life was a testament to generosity, humor, and genuine friendship.
A beloved figure in the hearts of many, Dion was not just a friend; he was a beacon of light and kindness. With an uncanny ability to turn the mundane into joyful moments, he would make people laugh until tears rolled down their cheeks. This laughter echoed through rooms and gatherings, leaving behind a trail of happiness that will forever linger in the memories of those privileged to know him.
As a proud graduate of Purdue University, Dion carried the spirit of camaraderie beyond the classroom walls. His commitment to community was unparalleled, demonstrated through 30 years of dedicated service as a Master Mason at Saint Joseph Lodge 437, where he forged lifelong friendships based on trust and respect. His involvement in the Rotary Club further showcased his unwavering belief in the power of helping others, embodying a life devoted to service and connection.
Dion had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel valued and significant, always ready to lend a hand, no matter how big or small the need. His favorite quote, drawn from the depths of wisdom—“The biggest problem in the universe is that nobody helps each other out“—encapsulated his philosophy on life. This belief fueled his actions and inspired those around him to strive for deeper connections and mutual support.
The world is a quieter place without Dion’s laughter, but his legacy of love and friendship will echo through the lives he touched. As we gather to remember this extraordinary man, we carry forward the lessons he imparted and the joy he shared. He leaves behind a treasure trove of memories that will forever illuminate the path for all who were fortunate enough to cross his.
Dion will be greatly missed by his family and friends he called family. In our hearts, Dion’s spirit will remain a constant reminder of the power of kindness, the humor and love he shared, and the crucial importance of being there for one another—a legacy that will endure through time.
