Richard J. Allen Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at his home. Age 77 years. The son of the late Puckett and Dorothy (Frazer) Allen; Richard was born on September 16, 1947 in Highland Park, Michigan. Richard married Maureen Carroll on June 27, 1970. She survives him. A proud veteran, Richard served honorably in the United States Army. He went on to work as a forklift driver at Detroit Diesel, dedicating 43 years of hard work before retiring. Richard was an avid outdoorsman who cherished time spent with family at Indian River, hunting and fishing at White Birch Lakes, and camping. He found joy in life's simple pleasures - rides on his side-by-side, listening to Elvis Presley and Hank Williams, and the occasional trip to the casino. A true dog-lover, he enjoyed taking his dogs on golf cart rides and always had a treat for every dog he met. Fiercely loyal and deeply protective, Richard's greatest pride was his family and his dogs.
Surviving besides his wife Maureen are five children, Tim (Linda) Hopper, Commerce Twp., Michigan; Dan (Louise) Hopper, Saginaw; Michele (Otis) Hutchinson, Saginaw; Sharon (Lee Latocki) Hopper, Saginaw; Jennifer (Jason) Rose, Holly; 11 grandchildren, Amy Bland, Ashley Hopper, Alyssa Kindervater, Michael Hall, Joe Scola, Dominic Scola, Alex Westendorf, Legan Rose, Sami Scola, Owen Rose and Griffin Rose; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; his loyal golden retriever, Daisy Mae, whom he lovingly called his baby girl. Richard was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene (Pauline) Allen and Edward Allen.
Funeral Service will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Pastoral Associate Tori Little will officiate. Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Army and V.F.W. Post #1859. Honoring Mr. Allen's wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may visit at the funeral home where the family will be present on Monday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Wounded Warrior Project or Saginaw County Humane Society.
