Richard Baird Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

On this day, May 8, 2024 five Saints, St. Joseph, St. Nicholas, St. Patrick, St. Dominic and St. Juan Diego swooped down and took Dick to a place to get him cleaned up and put on his white robe so he would be ready for the "Heavenly
Marriage Feast".
It was the five saints that came for Dick in gratitude for him dressing up as them and going to school children, and some adults, to teach them that "Saints are Heroes" and teach them about their lives and teachings.
Dick was born May 28, 1939 to Wayne and Marie Baird, but called Joseph Vanco, his step-father "Dad".
Dick went to Benedictine and Mayfied high schools, joined the Air Force and helped save the world during the "Cuban Missile Crisis".
He spent 31 years at GM as an electrician, closing four plants. When he came to a new plant, they would hold up a cross to keep him from bringing any plant closing with him. It didn't work.
Dick enjoyed his 54 years at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow and his 19 ministries there.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Marie.
He is survived by his son, Curtis (Sheryl) Baird and his daughter, Monica Baird. He also leaves two sisters and two brothers, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on TUESDAY (PLEASE NOTE CORRECTED TIME) at the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt.91). The Rosary to the Seven Sorrows of Mary will be prayed in the last twenty minutes of visiting hours.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on WEDNESDAY at Holy Family Church. Interment with military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman will folllow on THURSDAY at 2:00 p.m. (Please meet at the cemetery).
In lieu of flowers please send donations to Holy Family Church in Stow (3179 Kent Rd., Stow OH 44224)

If you were fortunate enough to be on Dick's emailing list... You were treated to
the best inspirational and 'funny' videos and cartoons... -Dick was a pro-life prayer warrior who brought not a few of us... me included... back to the Faith.

Son, he use to call me and he will say, Rejoice for in your sufferings you are setting free souls in captivity. You will make a wonderful Priest. Stay focus and be strong.
