Richard Daniel Baker

Richard D. Baker of Falmouth, MA passed unexpectedly on August 27, 2025 at Falmouth Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was 74.

Born in Newport, RI, he was a gifted musician who played guitar and loved music throughout his life. His sense of humor was also noteworthy. In the army, he served as a proud member of the 7th Calvary regiment bagpipe and drum band at Ledward Barracks in Schweinfurt, West Germany. Richard was a dining service manager at Boston College for 20 years. After retiring, he moved to Falmouth and made deliveries for Mahoney's Garden Center.

He and his devoted wife, Nancy Coyne Baker, recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four adoring children, Carla Baker, (Alex Valentine); Matthew Baker, (Kristin); Martin Baker, (Christine Robertson); and Nicholas Baker. He was a doting grandfather to his three grandsons. Richard was pre-deceased by his loving parents Norma (Millington) and Gene Brakeville, and his brother Dennis. He will be missed immensely.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 2pm to 5pm at Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 475 Main Street, Falmouth. Mass will be held at 11am on Monday, September 22, 2025, at St. Patrick's Church, 511 Main Street, Falmouth. Burial will take place at a later date.
