Richard "Dick" Harold Barker, Sr., age 95, of Titusville, Florida passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025 in Melbourne, Florida. He was formerly a resident of Litchfield and Allen Park, Michigan. Dick was born on July 14, 1930 in Campton, Kentucky to William and Averil (Horton) Barker. Dick married Dorothy Rowe on August 9, 1953, and she survives.
Dick graduated from Colon High School. Upon graduation he moved to Detroit and started working for Ford Motor Company. He served two years in the United States Army in the Korean Conflict. He then returned to his career at Ford, and he attended Dearborn Community College to earn his certification as a Pattern Maker. He retired in 1982.
While in Allen Park, between working and raising three children, Dick sang in the church choir, the Ford Chorus, and Shriners of Detroit. He also coached little league football (for more than 20 years) and baseball.
After retiring Dick and Dot moved to Litchfield, Michigan where he invested and worked at Harvard Clothing for seventeen years with his son, Rick. He was active with the Masonic Lodge in Litchfield/Homer. He was a member of Litchfield United Methodist Church where he continued to sing. For eight years, Dick coached JV football for the Litchfield Terriers and then four years as head Varsity coach. On November 25, 1994 the Terriers played in the finals in the Pontiac Silver Dome.
At the age of 65 Dick fulfilled a lifelong dream of learning to fly a plane and earned his pilot's license. He had a four-seater airplane which he kept at the Hillsdale Airport.
After his "second" retirement Dick and Dot moved to Titusville, Florida, where they have been for the last 22 years. Dick continued to sing with the church choir and other choral groups.
Surviving him besides his wife (of 72 years), Dorothy, are three children: Cynthia "Cindy"(Rick) Wellman, of Cedarburg, WI; Richard "Rick" (Rhonda Molinaro) Barker, Jr. of Litchfield, MI; Douglas "Doug" (Marcel) Barker of Armada, MI; five grandchildren: Kari-Lyn Lannert, Brandan Wellman, Noah Wellman, Paulina (Tim Nelson) Barker and Adam Barker; four great-granddaughters: RoseMary, Teagan, Eliza and Annabeth. Also his brother, William "Bill" (Ann) Barker of Kodiak, AK. And many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Adrian Barker, Gerald Barker, Patricia Kane, and Jack Barker.
A memorial service for Richard "Dick" Barker will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Litchfield. Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of your choice.
