Richard "Gerald" Barr, 86 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Grandview Post Acute.

Gerald was born Thursday, April 20, 1939 in Pulaski, Tennessee, and he was the son of the late Richard L. Barr and the late Irene (Thompson) Barr.

Gerald was a loving son, brother, husband, father, Papa Gerald, uncle, and friend. He was an avid UT Vols fan, and played high school football with the Major brothers. He attended Holladay Church of Christ for several years.

Gerald is survived by his Wife of 64 years, Gale Barr; his two daughters, Martha Dyer and her husband, Mike, and Myra Walker and her husband, Randy; 4 Grandchildren, Mary Beth Norris and her husband, Josh, Mallory Brock and her husband, Tyler, Ben Walker and his wife, Kenzley, and Cole Walker; 5 Great-Grandchildren, MayLee Kate Norris, RaeLynn Norris, Hayes Brock, Bo Brock, and Berkley Norris; 2 Sisters, Myranne Fender and her husband, Tom, and Mary Wells and her husband, Fred; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Service for Gerald Barr will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
