Richard Becker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evans Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services - Parkville on Jan. 11, 2026.
Richard William Becker, 76, of Parkville, passed Saturday, January 10, 2026, at The Cottages at Perry Hall. He is survived by his wife Joyce, children Kim and Tom, daughter-in-law Kelly, and beloved grandchildren Ellie, Walter, Ruth, and Jake. He was predeceased by his uncle Bill Sebald and his surrogate parents, Walter and Lillian Kuhn, Chester and Rita Gladkowski, Mary Pierce, and John Kuhn. Born July 5, 1949, in Baltimore, Rick worked tirelessly to care for his family and improve his community. After graduating from Parkville High School, where he met Joyce, he worked at the racetrack and then started a career as a binder at Port City Press. He retired from Saint Ursula School after many years of maintaining the building. Rick loved music and volunteered for the Archbishop Curley choral program. He was a member of Saint Dominic's choir. Rick's favorite place was the deck of his Ocean City condo, where he watched dolphins, birds, and his grandkids playing in the sand. His second favorite place was his backyard tiki bar, where he hosted memorable parties for his friends and family. Because of the love he received from his surrogate family, Rick cared deeply for those who needed kindness. He opened his heart and home to countless of Kim and Tom's friends and kids at St. Ursula. He never met a dog he didn't love and fostered every stray that his children came across, despite his protests. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ursula Catholic Church on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. Interment to follow at Parkwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Rick's name to the Maryland Chapter of Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes (formerly Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes (Formerly JDRF)).
