Richard W. "Dick" Beggs Jr. formerly of Richland Center, WI passed away of cancer on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at home in Rome, WI surrounded by his loving family. He was comforted and guided by his deep faith during this difficult journey. He was born March 6, 1945 in La Crosse, WI to Richard and Evalyn(Filla) Beggs. He graduated from La Crosse Aquinas High School in 1963. He then went on to get his Bachelor's degree in 1968 at Loras College in Dubuque, IA. Dick married the former Linda Lyon on September 9, 1967 at the La Crosse Cathedral.

Dick enjoyed a long career in the insurance industry with roles that included claims adjuster, agent, and ultimately co-ownership of an independent insurance agency in Richland Center, WI. He retired in 2015. In addition to his career, he was active in the community, including serving for 18 years as an alderperson in Richland Center, WI and a commissioner of the Richland Center utility for many years. He was also active at St. Mary's Catholic church, including coaching the grade school boy's basketball team.

During his free time, Dick could often be found at the golf course. He enjoyed the camaraderie of playing golf with friends at the Richland Center Country Club and later in life at Lake Arrowhead golf course. He was fortunate to have enjoyed two holes-in-one when he was 75 and 76 years old, respectively. He also was an avid Chicago Cubs and Wisconsin Badgers fan. In addition, he enjoyed playing Sheepshead with a group of guys he thoroughly enjoyed. Upon retirement, he and Linda would spend their winter months in Venice, FL.

Survivors include his wife Linda, son Robert(Ronda) of Fitchburg, WI, daughter Sarah Baumann(Dan) of Eau Claire, WI. He also is survived by 6 granddaughters Allison, Amanda, and Ava Beggs and Elizabeth(fiancée Michael Fuss), Katherine, and Abigail Baumann, for which he had immense love and pride. Also, a Sister-in-Law Sandra Poehling of La Crosse, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Evalyn, his father and mother-in- law Ronald and Marian Murray, and two nephews Ryan and Christopher Poehling.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 18 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa, WI. The visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00, with the service beginning at 11:00.
