Richard was born on June 1, 1954, in Washington D.C., to the late Joseph and Margaret (Deavers) Berger. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Craig Burton, and his sister, Wendy Best.
He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Ashley (Kevin) of Four Oaks, NC; his son, Richard Louis Berger Jr.; siblings, Debbie Thurston and Curtis Burton; grandchildren, Alexis Faircloth, Donte and Rodney Mott; and great grandchildren, Aubrey, Elijah, and Atreus Mott.
While family was at the heart of Richard's life, he also enjoyed various hobbies and interests that brought him joy. As we bid farewell to Richard, we take comfort in the love he spread and the lives he touched.
In honoring his memory, the family will have private services at a later date.
