Richard Dale Biggs, 72, of Pfafftown, NC went to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, August 27, 2025, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC.
Born in Avery County, NC, he was the son of the late Yates and Edna Biggs. He graduated from Avery County High School and later earned a degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.
He was a proud husband and father of five, as well as a faithful member of Turner’s Creek Baptist church in Yadkinville, NC, where he joyfully participated in serving and singing alongside his church family. Ricky enjoyed traveling to new places and trying new foods, listening to mountain music, sharing missionary stories, and keeping up with sports, especially baseball. Over the course of his life, he was a lay preacher, a short-term missionary, and a lover of revival meetings. Having retired from his job as a luggage handler, he spent the last few years of his life flying to take in the occasional baseball game at many MLB stadiums across the country.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his older brother, Gary, of Newland, NC. He is survived by his wife, Doris, their children, Erin Keel (Michael) of Chesnee, SC, Bethany Collins (Scott) of Yadkinville, NC, Charity Fowler (Paul) of Gaffney, SC, Lauren Joy Weaver (James) of Lexington, NC, and Jeremy Biggs of Pfafftown, NC, a brother, Bill Biggs, of Richmond, VA, and a sister-in-law, Linda Biggs, of Newland, NC. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren, whom he adored, Calli & John David Keel, Reece Collins, Lydia Mae & Aubrey Fowler, Davis & Roman Weaver, as well as many precious nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Turner's Creek Baptist Church, 3216 Courtney-Huntsville Rd, Yadkinville, NC, with Pastor Scott Welch and Dr. Michael Keel officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 PM prior to the service.
