Richard Bigner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton on Jan. 22, 2025.
Richard Alan Bigner, age 76 of Milton, FL passed away on January 19th, 2025.
He was born on April 7th, 1948 in McComb, MS to his parents Agnes Andros Bigner and Elmer Lee Bigner. Richard. He and his two older brothers, Bobby and Eddie Bigner, grew up in Harahan, LA and moved to Milton in the late 1950's.
After graduating from Milton High School in 1966, he met and fell in love with Jackie Jimmerson, the girl he would go on to spend the rest of his life with. He proposed to her in 1969 before enlisting in the Navy and going off to the Vietnam War, where he was a firefighter. Richard loved serving in the military in Vietnam; he just didn't like being away from Jackie. They wrote each other every day they were apart. After Richard returned from Vietnam they got married on September 5th, 1970. Richard and Jackie enjoyed a marriage that lasted over 54 years.
They were blessed with two sons, Charles Edward Bigner and Steven Alan Bigner. Richard lost both his father and grandfather in 1976 when he was only 28. This had a huge impact on him. After losing his father and grandfather, he gave his life to the Lord and started going to Christ Methodist Church; the church he and Jackie would end up serving faithfully for over 50 years.
Richard graduated from the University of West Florida in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. After graduating he became a finance manager for Wells Fargo. For over 30 years he had a reputation for honesty and integrity by helping so many good people. Richard was personal and caring with his customers and he believed in them when no one else did. Many people have said they would never have gotten their house or restaurant if it wasn't for him.
Richard loved the University of Florida football and basketball, Milton High football and basketball, serving in Christ Methodist Church, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Richard is preceded in death by both his parents and his older brother, Bobby Bigner.
He is survived by his brother, Eddie Bigner (Saeng); his wife of 54 years, Jackie Bigner; their two sons, Charles Bigner (Kelly) and Steven Bigner (Missy); 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special acknowledgement to the members of Christ Methodist Church, along with all our friends and family for their prayers and support. God is so good.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 10:00 am at Christ Methodist Church in Milton with services to follow at 11:00 am.

Richard, and his brother Eddie used to lived on the same road as I in Pace, Florida.. so you can say that we grew up together. We went to the same high school at Milton. Richard even got me in the Order of DeMolay. After high school, Richard and I kept in touch until his death.. We both went to Vietnam, although he was in the Navy, and I was in the Marines... Miss our keeping in touch with each other.. so as we say in the Marines.. Guard the Heavenly Gate, until I come to relieved you..
