Richard James "Rick" Boland, age 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area on Thursday, December 5th after a battle with cancer. Rick was born December 19, 1949 to James and Marion (Walk) Boland in Marinette, Wisconsin. He graduated from Marinette High School with the Class of 1969. He was a truck driver for over 50 years. Rick loved hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. He was an avid member of the M & M Great Lakes Sports Fishermen. He took pride in being involved in the Kids Fishing Derby as well as the Special Needs Derby for many years.
Rick is survived by his life partner, Nancy Norman; Nancy's three sons, Brian (Misty) Suhs (granddaughter, Stevie), Mike Suhs (granddaughter, Megan) and Kevin (Kelly) Norman (grandsons, Gavin and Dylan).
He is further survived by his son, Michael Peterson; brothers, Wes (Mary) Boland and John Boland; sisters, Patty (Mike) Murphy, Kathy (Dick) Jansen and Cindy (Chris) Spies; and many nieces, nephews and special friends, including nephew, Dale Boland.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Alimpertis and the Oncology staff, the Emergency Department staff, Dr. Shalini and third floor nursing staff at the Aurora Hospital in Marinette, as well as Unity Hospice for their exceptional care throughout his journey.
