Richard Bonczak, of Mount Ephraim, NJ, passed away on October 22nd, 2024 at the age of 54.
Born to Richard and Amelia (nee Borda) Bonczak on February 12th, 1970 in Camden, NJ. Richard is the beloved oldest brother of Christina Marie and Lisa (Bill) Coulter, cherished nephew of Phyllis Borda, Rosemarie Borda, and Stanley J. Bonczak. Predeceased by Joseph J. (Rose) Borda and Stanley (Sophie) Bonczak. Growing up, Richard attended Sacred Heart School, where he met the love of his life, his other half, Judith (nee Owen). The two were friendly in grade school until high school when Richard attended Bishop Eustace; graduating in the class of 1988. After many years, Judi finally agreed to go on a date with him. The pair became attached immediately, marrying on November 4th, 1995, in Sacred Heart Church, spending shy of 29 years together. When Rich married Judi, he became the beloved son-in-law to Patricia T. Owen "Ome". Judi and Rich welcomed their two loving sons, Richard Bonczak III, and Anthony Joseph Bonczak. Richard thrived as a father; he wanted to give his sons the proper role model that his father gave to him. He instilled in his boys to be respectful, kind, and to always do the right thing. As a family, they loved to spend summer vacations in Disney World, FL, going to Ocean City, NJ, and going to Phillies games. Richard was a proud father, he attended every school and sporting event his sons participated in. In addition, Richard was the godfather and uncle to Michael William Coulter, who Richard loved like a third son. Richard carried on the same traditions with Michael as he did with his own boys.
With encouragement from his father, Richard went on to attend Mercer County Community College to pursue his degree in Funeral Service, graduating in the class of 1991. Richard studied under Falco, Caruso, and Leonard Funeral Homes as an intern, moving on to becoming a Funeral Director for Schetter Funeral Home in Cherry Hill, NJ. In 1995, Richard began working for McGuinness Funeral Home in Woodbury, NJ. Richard carried himself with grace, integrity, and respect, granting him the title of Executive Manager in 2012. Richard is a proud member of the New Jersey Board of Funeral Directors Association and actively attended the WEST Chapter meetings. Working as a funeral director was not only Richard's job, it was also his passion. Richard offered his families a sense of comfort and ease during their grieving process while working tirelessly to execute the perfect funeral. He took pride in his work, inspiring others around him to want to do the same.
When Richard was not at work, he could be found at Citizens Bank Park enjoying a Phillies game with his wife and two sons, walking the downtown area of Cape May, or driving around with his sidekick, Stella the Yorkie. Rich enjoyed listening to an array of artists from Tim McGraw to Frank Sinatra and filled his free time with what mattered most to him, the people around him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Richard's viewing on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024, from 5pm - 8pm, located at McGuinness Funeral Home, located at 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ, 08096. A second viewing will take place on Wednesday, October 30th, 2024, from 8am - 9:45am at McGuinness Funeral Home, followed by an 11am Funeral Mass in the family parish, St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, located at 300 E Kings Hwy, Haddon Heights, NJ 08035. Entombment to follow at New St. Mary's Mausoleum in Bellmawr, NJ.

My husband Brian and I didn't know Richard personally. Anthony, his youngest son is our landscaper. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Anthony, your mother and brother. Anthony obviously learned is kind, caring nature from his parents. I know his father is very proud of the young man he raised. With our deepest sympathy,

Our Deepest Sympathy to Judi & the Entire Bonczak Family

Rich´s life centered around his love and commitment to Family, Friends and Faith. His warm smile, generous heart, and humorous personality always put everyone at ease. A devoted Husband, Father, Uncle, and Son, Rich accepted God´s calling to be a Funeral Director. Through his selfless generosity and passion for his profession, Rich provided Comfort, Care and Compassion to countless numbers of grieving families.

Words cannot express the sorrow that we feel for you and your family at this time. Matthew 24:36 says that no one knows the day or the hour. While it is extremely difficult to reconcile the sudden nature of God calling Rich too soon, we take solace knowing that when our "day or hour" comes, Rich will be there to welcome us into Heaven with open arms.

Our family met Richard on the worst day of our lives, we had just lost our daughter Cristin to cancer, and had to make the arrangements for her service. Even though it was a tough day, I have Richard made it bearable. His honesty, caring, patience and warmness were amazing. He listened, and genuinely cared. He even made us laugh a little. I really don't think we would have. Made it through without him. Our prayers go out to his family, friends and co-workers. He was a special man!
