Richard Sarkis 'Rick' Bonjuklian, 57, of Wanaque, NJ passed away in his sleep on Sunday, September 15th.
Devoted brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend to many, Rick had numerous health issues that he bravely overcame one at a time. Born to Senekerim and Anne Bonjuklian on December 25th 1966, Rick attended Lincoln High School in Yonkers and then went on to attend Johnson and Wales Culinary School in Providence where he studied Culinary Arts.
A lifelong NY Giants and Yankees fan, Rick always loved watching his teams and often attended Giants games in his youth. Rick also loved cars, especially his Mustang and Jeep Wrangler which he often drove off road. Rick was very proud of his Armenian heritage and particularly enjoyed his time at Camp Haiastan in Franklin Mass where he made many lifelong friends. His lifelong passion for cooking was apparent as he would often prepare food for the holidays. Rick very much enjoyed family, gatherings, and especially Christmas as everyone also celebrated his birthday.
A wake will be held for friends and relatives on Wednesday, September 25th from 4-7 PM at the William Basralian Funeral Home, 559 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell, NJ. Funeral to be held at Basralian Funeral Home 11:30 AM Thursday, September 26th with interment to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Queens.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Camp Haiastan, 722 Summer Street, Franklin MA 02038, or to St. Illuminator's Cathedral, 221 E. 27th Street, NY, NY 10016. May God welcome and rest his soul.
