BOYD, Richard "Dick" – of Gladwin, formerly of Clio, age 93, died peacefully on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at his residence surrounded by the love of his family. Funeral service will be held 11:30AM Friday, September 13, 2024, at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Burial at Flint Memorial Park to follow. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 10AM until the time of service at 11:30AM.
Dick was born August 23, 1931, in Flint, to the late William "Pete" and Clara (Clark) Boyd. He received his high school diploma from Clio High School with the class of 1951 and honorably served in the United States Army National Guard for eight years. On June 7, 1952, Dick married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Ferguson, and together they shared 72 years of marriage and were blessed with four children. Dick worked at General Motors for a short while and retired from Consumers Energy in 1988 after 36 years. Upon retirement, he and Marjorie moved to Gladwin where they have resided for 40 years. Besides tending to his yard, Dick enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys and friends. He loved spending time with his family – especially the little ones as they grew. In his spare time, Dick enjoyed personal photography of family and his travels. He was a wonderfully creative man who always offered a helping hand to those in need and often found himself completing odd jobs around the neighborhood. Dick was a wonderful man who will be dearly missed by those who knew him. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the personnel of Heartland Hospice for their professionalism, care, and compassion during Dick's final days.
Dick is forever remembered by his beloved wife, Marjorie Boyd; Son, Richard "Rich" (LouAnn) Boyd, Jr.; Daughter, Robin (Larry) Hudson; Many beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Brother, Gary (Marcia) Boyd; Daughter-in-Law, Debbie Boyd; Nieces, nephews, extended family, and wonderful friends.
