Richard Dennis Cartie, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Fairview Park Hospital.
Born on September 18, 1954, in Crosby, Minnesota, Richard was the son of the late Hilary Rudolph Cartie and Florence (Les) Cartie Tozier. Richard was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas, Randal, and Hilary "Chip" Rudolph Cartie, Jr.
Richard attended culinary school to become a chef while living in Minnesota. His passion for serving people led him to relocate to Texas and eventually Dublin, Georgia. Even after leaving the kitchen professionally, Richard was known in his community for his cookies, bread, salsa, barbecue, and countless culinary treats.
Richard devoted 30 years of his life to helping others through his work in emergency medical services. He served with West Georgia Ambulance Service, Heartland EMS, Laurens County EMS, and Houston County EMS. Before his retirement, Richard worked with the Houston Healthcare Cardiac Cath Lab team. His dedication, steady presence, and willingness to help made a lasting impact on colleagues and the many people he served.
He is survived by his daughter, Jenny (Josh) Woodard of Dexter, Georgia; two sons, Danny (Maggie) Cartie of Oro Valley, Arizona and Michael (Tiffany) Cartie of Cochran, Georgia; his sister, Cheryl (Larry) Haugen; six grandchildren, David Woodard, Katie Woodard, Abby Cartie, Faith Woodard, Damon Cartie, and Logan Cartie; previous wife and lifelong friend, Donna Smith; and nieces and nephews.
Richard will be remembered for his lifelong commitment to service, and the love he had for his family.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory, Dublin Chapel. Family will receive visitors at the Woodard's residence.
