Richard L. Christiansen, 83, of Gibsonburg, OH, passed away surrounded by his family on October 16, 2025. He was born on June 5, 1942 in Sandusky OH to Henry and Emma (Stoner Gilbert) Christiansen. Richard was a 1960 graduate of Sandusky High School. He then went on to serve in the US Navy from 1962 to 1966 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
Richard married Betty (Bartlett) LaValle on April 7, 1995 and she survives. He worked for Ford Motor Company and retired after many years of service. Richard also worked for Hart Ambulette and enjoyed making cabinets and building homes. He was a wonderful woodworker and enjoyed gambling, fishing, hunting, gardening and going to yard sales and auctions.
Richard is survived by his wife of thirty years, Betty Christiansen; his children, Robin Christiansen, Rodney Christiansen; stepchildren, Carl E. LaValle, Thomas J. LaValle, John “Gerry” LaValle, David A. LaValle, Susan Linn, Ronald (Elyse) Linn, Robert Linn; grandchildren, Kassia Widmer, Richard (Kenzie) Christiansen, Nicholas Christiansen; six other grandchildren; four great grandchildren niece, Amy Christiansen and nephew, Keith Christiansen.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Christiansen and sister, Carolyn Ann Bittel.
Services will be held privately for the family.
Memorials can be made in his honor to Donor’s choice.
