Richard G. "Dick" Colby ObituaryRichard "Dick" Colby, 84, Passed away on March 28th at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of the late Patricia Colby who was the love of his life. Dick was born on May 26, 1940 in Torrington, Ct, son of John & Marjorie Colby.
He met his wife Pat on a church mystery ride while working in Warren when he was a teenager. They married and lived in Warren for over 65 years. Dick graduated from Torrington High School and went on to graduate from Nichols College. He owned and operated Richard Colby Printer on Maple St in Bantam and retired in 2012. He also delivered papers for the Waterbury Republican during his retirement years.
Dick served as a member of the Warren Fire Department and Warren Ambulance for several years. His volunteer service for the fire department included the Warren Fall Festival and as late as this year's annual Venison Supper.
He was an avid sports fan cheering on the Red Sox and Uconn men and women's basketball. He organized and played on the "The Warren Wraggies" recreational softball team for about 25 years. After he hung up his own glove he chauffeured his grandchildren to sports practices. He and Pat had front row seats at all their games and activities. He loved country music, gardening, woodworking, puttering in his yard and being busy. He also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes in the company of good friends and family.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Siddall and husband Robert from Warren, CT, his son EJ Colby and wife Kris from Warren CT, granddaughter Ashley Neller and husband Colin from Morris, CT, granddaughter Taylor Kaplan and husband Joshua from Bantam, CT, granddaughter Brandi Alpizar and husband Irving from Terryville, CT and grandson Matthew Colby from New Milford, CT. He also has 6 great children Oaklyn, Matthew, Colby, Ryder, Desmond, and Colton.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 11:30am at the Warren Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Warren Fire Department.
