Richard Conner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Black-Epperson Funeral Home - Senecaville on Dec. 16, 2025.
Richard J. Conner, 77, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday (December 13, 2025) at Cambridge Place Assisted Living.
He was born October 21, 1948 in Columbus, son of the late James & Evelyn Jean (Bowers) Conner.
Mr. Conner was a 1966 graduate of Linden McKinley High School in Columbus. He is also a graduate of Otterbein University. Mr. Conner proudly served his country in the Navy on the USS Shenandoah out of Norfolk and on the Borderline Destroyer.
He served as an Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper at the Crawford County Post. He became a lineman for Columbus & Southern Electric and later for Florida Power & Light. He was a member of Elks Lodge 448, Eagles Aerie 386 of Cambridge, VFW #3760 of Byesville, and The American Legion of Zanesville.
Ric had real zest for life, and enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife, Chris. Ric was happiest when he was active and could be often found bowling, golfing, playing poker at the Elks Lodge, puttering around the yard, or spending time with his family. Ric was known as a joker often shadowboxing with his granddaughter, Charlotte, or sneaking ice cream in the late evening hours. Ric was happiest when he was doing things for others and often shared his love quietly, giving advice when asked, and always standing in support of those he cared for.
Ric will always be remembered by those who knew him whenever a Bob Seger or a Hootie and the Blowfish song plays, around bonfires on cool fall nights, on hot summer days spent at the pool, or by his family when they sit down to play a game of Euchre or Chicken Foot.
Richard is survived by three daughters, Renee (Paul) Spence of Lexington SC, Nikki (Parker) Wahl of Cambridge, and Kathy (Joe) Holden of Cleveland; two sisters, Peggy (Harold) Ford of Kirkersville and Patricia Cole of Miamisburg; one brother; Tim (Kim) Conner of Kentucky; his sister-in-law, Cindy Conner; his grandchildren, Reid Conner, Riley Conner, Rory McPherson, Ryan McPherson of Alabama, two Holden grandchildren of Texas, Charlotte and Paul Joseph Spence of South Carolina, Christine Wahl of Cambridge; his great-grandchildren; special daughter-in-law, Renee Conner McPherson of Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 17 years, Chris Gibson-Turner; his brother, Ron Conner; and his son, Randy S. Conner.
Special thanks to Hospice of Guernsey and Cambridge Place Assisted Living for the care, love and compassion that they've given Ric. From all of our family we are so grateful for all you've done for him.
Visitation will held Saturday (December 20, 2025) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Senecaville, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Kris Bright officiating.
Burial will be at Senecaville Cemetery, with military graveside honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
