It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Alan Cooper, who left this world on June 13, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on April 18, 1947, Richard was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and a true friend to many.
Richard was married to the love of his life, Mary Alice Cooper, for an incredible 56 years. Their enduring love and partnership were an inspiration to all who knew them. Together, they built a life filled with countless memories and unwavering devotion. Mary survives him, carrying forward the legacy of their beautiful journey together.
A proud veteran, Richard served his country with honor in the Air Force. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for the beach and yard work, where he found peace and joy. Richard's faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he dedicated 20 years of service as a Deacon at both First Assembly and Freedom Life in Ashboro, touching many lives with his kindness and commitment.
Richard's family was the center of his universe. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Kisha Dunker, whom he affectionately called "Punkiey," and her husband, Jason Dunker. The light of his life was his granddaughter, Peyton, his "Love Bug," who brought him endless joy and pride. Richard's love for his family knew no bounds, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
An avid dog lover, Richard's home was always filled with the wagging tails and joyful barks of his furry companions. He was also a huge NASCAR fan and had a deep passion for football, cheering fervently for the Green Bay Packers and the Carolina Panthers.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Davis Community Center and Cape Fear Lower Hospice for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time.
A private celebration of Richard's life is scheduled to take place, where his closest family and friends will gather to honor his memory and share their love.
Richard Alan Cooper will be remembered for his unwavering love, his dedication to his family, and his generous spirit. He will be deeply missed but forever in our hearts.
