Richard H. Daly, 98 passed away at his Murrells Inlet S.C. home on Jan 3, 2026. Born and raised in Fall River, Mass, the son of the late Henry B and Margaret C (Clarkson) Daly.
He graduated from Coyle High School, Fall River and attained a B.A. (Chemistry) Class of 1950 St. Anselm's College, Manchester N.H. Dick served his country in the Korean War with the U.S. Army as a medic in the 1st Med Field Lab and was decorated with the Korea Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars; United Nations Service Medal. Post war he was employed by Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, Fall River MA, as an analytic chemist.
Dick married Patricia M. Aylward, also of Fall River in 1953 and had 2 daughters. He then secured a new position with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and the family relocated to the Philadelphia area where they lived for 20 years. During this time he advanced with Goodyear and was the Eastern District Sales Manager. He was an active member in the American Chemical Society and the Philadelphia Rubber Group where he served as chairman. The Dalys were spirited members of the Westgate Hills,
Havertown, PA community and communicants of St. Pius X, Broomall. Dick served as an usher and played an apostle in the annual Lenten Passion Play. In 1978, Dick and his family relocated back to the MA area, this time residing in
Plainville, MA. Dick still working with Goodyear, out of Waltham. Dick joined the Franklin Country Club, Franklin MA where he achieved his first hole in one, in August 1992. Then after 80 inches of snow and retirement, his passion for golf led them to Indigo Creek, Murrells Inlet SC., where they were one of the first families on Pinckney Lane. It was at Indigo that Dick achieved his second hole in one, in March 1999. He was the head of their Men's League for many years. Dick and Pat were communicants of St. Michael, Garden City SC. Because of the various places they lived Dick faithfully followed many teams – the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Philadelphia Phillies and Flyers and the Carolina Panthers. He also had a fondness for New England Clam Chowder, Clam Cakes, Fall River Chow Mein and Philly Cheesesteaks. Dick also watched every major golf tournament with a special love of the Ryder Cup. His favorite pros were Arnold Palmer and Phil Mickelson. Dick is an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, Assembly # 2107, Garden City SC and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Post 10420, Murrells Inlet. Those who knew Dick will remember him for his gentile nature, sense of wit and humor, excellent penmanship and his love for a good martini.
Dick is survived by his daughters Debra A and Mary P Bauso, both of Murrells Inlet, a niece Lisa Reynolds Collins, San Francisco CA and a nephew John (Jay) Daly of Fall River. Dick was predeceased by his wife of 67 years Patricia M. Aylward Daly, 2 brothers Joseph and John and a sister Mary (Daly) Reynolds.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 23, 2026 at St. Michael Church, Cypress Avenue Garden City SC.
