Richard Charles Davidson

Richard Charles Davidson Jr., "Richie," also lovingly known as "Cornbread," age 56 of Miamisburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born April 3, 1969 in Dayton, Ohio.

Richie graduated from Miamisburg High School Class of 1987. He then went on to serve his country in the United States Army, where he was honorable discharged in January of 1995. Richie was a detective with the Dayton Police Department for 30 years, and he spent nearly 10 of those years as a hostage negotiator (HNT). Most recently, he was employed with Premier Health as a detective. Richie coached high school baseball at both Wayne High School and Miamisburg High School for more than 20 years. He was also an avid sports fan, specifically the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, Columbus Bluejackets, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Richie will be remembered for making everyone laugh and always being entertaining. Most importantly, he loved his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Richie is survived by his wife of 16 years, Melissa; children, Jessie Eakle, Clay Davidson (Stephanie Kraska), Ava Davidson, and Jack Davidson; step-children, Tyler (Stevie) Olszewski, Braden (Liv) Olszewski, and Sydney Olszewski (Colter); grandchildren, Dawson, Cade, and Elly Davidson and Jordan Trochelman; mother, Sherrie Davidson (Joanne Martin); father, Richard (Rita) Davidson; sister, Shellie (Joe) DiPietro; in-laws, Ronald & Patty Utterback; brother-in-law, Coby Utterback (Melissa Oakes); sister-in-law, Molly (Brad) Salt; as well as numerous extended relatives, friends, and coworkers.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Southbrook Christian Church (9095 Washington Church Road, Miamisburg, Ohio 45342). Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 10:00 am, also at the church. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 10:00 am at Dayton National Cemetery. Those who wish to join the funeral procession to the cemetery can meet at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, OH 45459) at 9:00 am that day.
