Richard Lawrence Davis (Rick) passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 in Monroe, NC,
Rick was born November 25, 1965, in Tampa, FL, to Mary Davis. Rick was the oldest of four children. He moved to the Charlotte/Monroe area in his young 20's where spent the remainder of his life.
Rick worked for many years at Family Dollar as a forklift operator and then later began driving a concrete truck and most recently drove for Carolina Ready-Mix where he felt valued and appreciated. He worked long hours, but he really loved his job.
Rick's favorite things to do were to spend time with his wife on their Thursday dinner dates, visit his kids and grandkids on Sunday afternoons, or stopping by his daughter's work on his way home on Wednesday's evenings just to have a quick bite to eat or quality conversation. Rick's happiest days were the birth of his son, daughter, and subsequently his grandchildren. He loved being a grandfather.
Family meant everything to Rick. He especially liked the big get-togethers, where good food and lots of love abounded. At these functions, he would always find someone who he had not met and would make them feel as if they had known each other for years. He loved his family. He found comfort and guidance in his best friend, his sister. He was lovingly considered the big goofball of the family.
Rick found solace returning to church and felt embraced by the men's group at Lee Park Church.
Rick loved traveling to the mountains for weekend getaways. He made it a point to take these trips with his daughter to watch her take photos of the scenery.
Rick was a true patriot, he loved God and this country. He had great admiration for his nephew serving in United States Marines Corps.
Rick is survived by his mother Mary Davis, wife, Michelle, children Joshua (Brianna) and Bethany, stepchildren whom he loved as his own Joseph, Tyler, and Hailey, his grandchildren, Lawson & Blake. He is also survived by his brother's, Mike Davis and Christopher Davis, and only sister Johanna Navarro, along with a valued Aunt and Uncles, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and brothers-in-law (more like brothers), sisters-in-law and many friends who are like family - too many to name.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lee Park Church, 2491 Morgan Mill Rd, Monroe, NC 28110, the family will receive friends at 2:30, the Service will begin promptly at 3:30, Sunday, January 21,2024 with a reception with dinner immediately following.
