Richard Douberly Obituary
Richard was born on July 3, 1939 in Savannah to the late James Oliver Douberly, Sr. and the late Cornelia Tuten Douberly. He was a graduate of Savannah High School (Class of 1957) and attended Georgia Southern University. He served in the Air National Guard for six years as part of the Radar Division of the 117th. Richard was a former Local Chairman and Legislative Representative for the United Transportation Union, and retired as a conductor for CSX Railroad. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, the Alee Shriners, and a Past Master of Solomon's Masonic Lodge No.1 of Savannah.
Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Andrea Douberly; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard E. Douberly, Jr., Patrick & Samantha Douberly, and Jason & Jill Douberly; brother, Robert Douberly; grandchildren, Tyler Douberly, Erin (Avery) Denton, Mary Douberly, Anna Grace Douberly, Matthew Douberly, Sarah (Peyton) Cooper, and Jacob Douberly; and two great grandchildren, Charlotte and Palmer Denton.
Richard loved life, loved his family and loved the Lord, with whom he now resides in perfect peace.
A private graveside service was held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Hillcrest East Cemetery.
