Richard C. Edler, 58 of North Liberty died suddenly at his home on Saturday, April 21, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. In keeping with Richard's view on these things, casual dress is encouraged! Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Richard's memory. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Richard Charles Edler was born September 7, 1953, in Scott County, Iowa. He grew up in the Amana's graduating from Norway high school. On May 17, 1975, he married Linda H. Goodell in Vinton. The couple have made their home in this area since their marriage. Richard worked for Lantern Park Care Center for 14 years, Mercy Hospital for over 20 years, and has been employed at Oaknoll Retirement Residence for the past 2 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, walking, simply appreciating Mother Nature. Richards was a Cedar Rapids Kernel's fan, and was known to indulge in country music, even going down to Branson, MO a few times! His family includes his wife, Linda; children, Amy Edler of Coralville and John Edler of Iowa City; his father, Lloyd Edler of Cedar Rapids; sister, Kim Edler of Cedar Rapids, and brothers, Malvin Largent of Sandorus, IL and Jim Edler of Pensacola, FL. His mother, Millie Edler died earlier.

To my dad it has been 5 years since I seen you I miss you everyday but I know you're in a better place living the life you had imagined I wish you were here and I wish you would call me but I know that will never happen again at least I know you are safe I love you I miss you sometime I need you but don't worry dad I got this.
