Richard Martin Eisenberg, age 83, of Minnetonka, peacefully passed away on August 3, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. If pride is really a sin, then Richard was indeed a sinner. He was a prideful man with many reasons to be proud – professionally and personally. Straight out of his post-doctoral year, Rich was part of a group of 10 young men who started the medical school at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. He went on to chair the pharmacology department for twenty-nine years, received 6 NIH grants, developed Minnesota Medical Edu-ware which were the first computerized medical education programs, and served as the president of the Association of Medical School Pharmacology Chairs. He served on the boards and eventually as president of the Human Development Center and Temple Israel, Duluth. On the side, he built furniture for fun and was a skilled photographer. Even more, however, he was proud of his family. He was always Marsha's biggest cheerleader, encouraging her to take on increasingly challenging Hadassah volunteer opportunities, helping with her computer issues, and glowing in her successes. He knew his children and grandchildren were the best! Our discussions in his final days often turned to the legacy he was leaving: three successful children, Marla (Marc Roth), Aaron (Leorah) Eisenberg, and Shana (Wade Fields); and 7 incredible grandchildren, Jordyn, Jamin, Ari, Anissa and Jonah Eisenberg and Willow and Wyatt Fields. He could happily talk at length about any and all of them and frequently did. Sorry if he bored you – but that might be where the sinning part came in. Once he started, it was hard for him to stop. Funeral service 1:00 pm THURSDAY, August 7th at HODROFF-EPSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 126 E. Franklin Ave., Minneapolis, and available on Zoom at: www.hodroffs.com/RichardEisenberg (link found below). SHIVA 7:00 pm Thursday and 4:30 pm Friday at The Orchards of Minnetonka, 10955 Wayzata Blvd. in the Community Room. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Hadassah, https://hwzoa.networkforgood.com/projects/256561-mw-gp-in-memory-of-richard-eisenberg . Checks may be mailed to Hadassah, 3645 Archer Lane N., Plymouth, MN 55446.

I will always remember Rich´s smile and kind words. He was a cherished colleague and friend. It was like yesterday that we were with Rich and Marsha at The Cloisters and in Bermuda. I will miss him greatly.
