Richard Garofalo, age 83, of Derby, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 6, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion that will be remembered by all who knew him. He was born in Derby on November 20, 1941 son of the late Agostino and Mary (Felice) Garofalo and was a proud lifelong resident of Derby.
A proud United States Army veteran, Richard served his country with honor and continued his dedication to fellow service members as a respected member of the Catholic War Veterans (CWV). His patriotism and commitment to service were defining aspects of his life.
Following his military service, Richard enjoyed a career of over 40 years at Sikorsky, where his dedication earned the respect of colleagues and friends.

He found joy in officiating high school football games and was known on the field for his fairness and enthusiasm. His devotion to his Catholic faith and his warm, dependable presence made him a pillar in the lives of those close to him.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Christine Garbien Garofalo, with whom he shared a deep and loving bond. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Diane and Marietta Garofalo, and his brothers, Peter and Frank (Footsie) Garofalo.
Richard is survived by his brother, Robert Garofalo, and wife Nancy; his nephews Collin and Nicholas Garbien, James and Ryan Homa, Jeffrey Garofalo and wife Keri, Robert Garofalo, Jr. and wife Kristine; and his great nieces and nephews, Nathan Homa, Marielis Laguer, Anthony and Gianna Garofalo.
