Richard J. "Rich" Gavin, 83, died July 3, 2025.
Rich was born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and was a long time resident of Manville before recently moving to Somerset in 2023. Rich was employed as a mason at John's Manville and then as a maintenance worker for Bridgewater Raritan Board of Education, retiring in 1995. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Rich was a member of the Manville Hunting Club, Somerville Elks, and Thomas J. Kavanaugh VFW Post 2290. Rich was a handy man and loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Rich will be sadly missed by all.
He is predeceased by ten siblings and one granddaughter.
Surviving is his wife of 39 years, Sharon Liberman, sons Scott Weiss and Richard Gavin, daughter Rachel Phan, and 7 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:30am Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave, Somerville. Entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge.
Visitation will be 4-7pm Monday, July 14, 2025 at the funeral home.

Richard was so kind and so down to earth. I enjoyed talking to him because we had alot in common. Anyone that knew him would love him. A gentle sole with a beautiful smile and always made me feel at home when other family members didn't..rest in peace Richard..I will never forget you
