John P. Hauschild, 86, of Princeton, passed away on August 17, 2025.

Born in New York City, John lived for many years in Bridgewater, NJ, before moving to Princeton in 2012. He was the first in his family to attend college, graduating from the City College of New York with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1960. He went on to earn his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Purdue University in 1966.

John enjoyed a distinguished career as a research product development manager, working for Colgate-Palmolive for 22 years before continuing at Church & Dwight, where he retired in 1998. Over the course of his career, he became a leading researcher in the oral care industry, holding numerous patents and making lasting contributions to the field.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was deeply devoted to his community. He was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir, and he proudly served for many years as an AAU swimming official. He was also a dedicated and enthusiastic little league baseball coach and swim parent, supporting his four sons throughout their athletic pursuits. In his spare time, John loved golfing, playing cards, and in later years discovered a passion for acting and continued his love of singing as a member of the Windrows Warblers.

John was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Margaret B. "Peggy" Hauschild, who passed in 2023, and by his grandson, William Taggart. He is survived by his four sons, James (Anne), John (Naomi), William (Catherine), and Craig (Bonnie); his sister, Carol Ann Cleary, and her husband, Michael; and nine grandchildren-Walker, Maia, Emma, Erika, Gillian, Campbell, Alexander, Alden, and Carrigan.

John's ashes will be interred alongside his wife at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Somerville during a private ceremony with his immediate family.
